How we collect, use and protect personal information.

Last updated: 7 November 2026

This policy explains how FYX Marketing collects and uses personal information, including when you visit our website, contact us, become a client or receive an email from us about our services. We keep it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email hello@fyxmarketing.com.

1. Who we are

FYX Marketing is a trading name of Adedoyin Akinola, a sole trader. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Adedoyin Akinola trading as FYX Marketing is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

Contact: hello@fyxmarketing.com. We don't have a data protection officer, but all privacy questions come to the founder directly.

2. The information we collect

When you contact us or use our forms

Your name, email address, phone number, company, website address and anything you choose to tell us in your message.

When you become a client

Contact and billing details, project information and the records needed to deliver our services and keep our accounts. We may also handle personal information on your behalf as part of a project, for example in your website forms, CRM or marketing lists. In that case you are the controller, we act as your processor, and we only use that information to deliver the work you've asked for.

When we contact businesses about our services

We research businesses that might benefit from our services. For this, we collect business contact information: a person's name, job title, work email address, work phone number and company details, along with publicly available information about the business and its website.

When you visit our website

Technical information such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technologies. See section 8.

3. Where we get information from

Most information comes directly from you. For business outreach, we use publicly available sources, including company websites, Companies House and other official registers, Google Business Profiles and Maps listings, professional directories and trade bodies, and business social media pages.

4. How we use it, and our lawful bases

What we doLawful basis
Reply to your enquiry, prepare audits, mock-ups and quotesTaking steps at your request before a contract, or our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries
Deliver our services to clients and manage the relationshipPerformance of a contract
Contact businesses about services that may be relevant to themOur legitimate interests in promoting our business to other businesses
Keep invoices, accounts and tax recordsLegal obligation
Keep a record of people who've asked us not to contact themLegal obligation and our legitimate interests in respecting that request
Analytics and advertising cookiesYour consent, which you can withdraw at any time
Protect our website and business, and handle legal claimsOur legitimate interests

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we've balanced our interests against yours. For business outreach, we only contact people in their professional role, about services relevant to their business, and every email tells you how to opt out.

5. Emails about our services

We sometimes email businesses we think we can help, for example with a short review of their website. We follow the rules on electronic marketing in each country we work in:

  • UK: we email corporate subscribers (such as limited companies and LLPs) at their work addresses. We don't send unsolicited marketing emails to sole traders or partnerships without their consent.
  • Canada: we only email addresses that a business has published, where the message is relevant to the person's role and the business hasn't said it doesn't want marketing emails.
  • United States: our emails identify us, include a postal address and give a simple way to opt out.

If you don't want to hear from us, reply with "unsubscribe" or email hello@fyxmarketing.com. We'll stop straight away and keep your email address on a do-not-contact list so we never email you again.

6. AI tools

We use AI tools to help us research publicly available business information, review websites, draft emails and create work for clients. We don't use AI to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, and we don't use client data to train AI models.

7. Who we share information with

We don't sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, under contracts that require them to protect it, including:

  • Website hosting and business email (Hostinger)
  • Email, calendar and file storage (Google)
  • Website analytics (Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager)
  • Website forms (WPForms, stored on our own website)
  • Invoicing, CRM and client communications (HighLevel)
  • AI tools used in our work (such as Anthropic)
  • Trusted freelancers who help deliver client projects, under confidentiality terms
  • Our accountant, and professional advisers where needed

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights.

8. Cookies

Our website uses essential cookies to work properly and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand how visitors use it. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's cookies in your browser, which shows the banner again.

9. International transfers

We work remotely and serve clients in the UK, Canada and the US. Some of our service providers store or process information outside the UK, mainly in the United States and the European Economic Area, and we and our contractors may access information from outside the UK. When information is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it's protected, for example through countries the UK recognises as having adequate protection (including the EEA and Canada), the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

10. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 2 years from our last contact.
  • Business outreach records: up to 12 months from our last contact, unless you become a client.
  • Do-not-contact list: for as long as we send marketing emails, so we can respect your request.
  • Client records, invoices and accounts: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as the law requires.
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months.

11. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • correct information that's wrong or incomplete
  • delete your information
  • restrict how we use it
  • stop using it for direct marketing, which we'll always do
  • stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests, unless we have a strong reason to continue
  • send your information to you or another organisation in a portable format
  • withdraw consent, where we rely on it

To use any of these rights, email hello@fyxmarketing.com. We'll reply within one month. There's no charge in most cases.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. If you're in Canada, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

12. If you're in Canada or the United States

Canada: we handle personal information in line with the principles of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and our emails follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or withdraw consent, by emailing us. Unsubscribe requests are actioned straight away, and always within 10 business days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

United States: we don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for any purpose you wouldn't reasonably expect. Our marketing emails follow the CAN-SPAM Act: they identify us, include a postal address and a working opt-out, and we honour opt-outs promptly. Whichever state you live in, you can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, delete it or stop using it for marketing, and we won't treat you differently for asking.

13. Security

We protect information with secure, encrypted connections, strong passwords, access limited to the people who need it, and regular backups. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps and will act quickly if anything goes wrong.

14. Children

Our services are for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

15. Other websites

Our website links to other sites, such as client websites and review platforms. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.

16. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when our practices or the law change, and show the date of the latest version at the top.
